The method used at Stephan Roux Ltd is mainly traditional scribe carpentry. We draw out the elevations full scale on the floor then lay-up each timber, and scribe the joints with a plumb bob or level. We use a variety of specialist tools to cut the joints, of which there is a large repertoire, principally large oak pegged mortice and tenon joints.
