What we do

  • We only work in Cornwall, and ideally within a 50km radius of the workshop.
  • It is advisable to involve Stephan Roux Ltd early on in the design process so we can offer our expertise on the wide range of possibilities offered by structural carpentry and advise on construction details.  We will work alongside your chosen architect or can recommend several local architects should you need one. We can also recommend very good local builders and should you desire offer a full turn key solution.
  • Design work is done using class leading CAD software package ArchiCAD with FrameWright as a bolt on and always run the latest version. This enables us to produce detailed plans and stunning rendered photos insuring a design tailor made to you requirements.
  • During the design process we liaise with our affiliated structural engineers who will provide structural calculations for building regulation approval.
  • Once construction drawings are completed and structural engineers’ approval has been gained, timber can be ordered.
  • The carpentry is done in our 266 sqM workshop using traditional scribe technique and a variety of specialist tools to cut the joints.
  • Alternatively carpentry can be cut on a CNC machine in France and then we arrange assembly on site. This option offers a more cost effective solution but lacks the hand crafted feel and is more suited for timber frames with straight timbers and a modern look.
  • We offer installation of face applied, fixed panel, double & triple glazed units and bespoke joinery to oak/Douglas fir timber framed buildings. This service is available for our own frames only.
